Burkina Faso has accelerated its public sector digitalization efforts with the introduction of a fully online system for Information Technology Technical Certification (ATI) applications, marking another milestone in the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Under a directive issued by the Ministry of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications through the General Directorate of Digital Transformation, all ATI certification requests and renewals must now be submitted through a dedicated online platform. The measure replaces traditional paper-based procedures and is designed to improve efficiency, accessibility, and transparency in the certification process. Starting April 1, 2026, physical application files will no longer be accepted, making digital submission the sole channel for processing certifications.
The reform is expected to reduce administrative bottlenecks, shorten processing times, and provide applicants with a more streamlined user experience. By digitizing a key professional certification service, authorities aim to strengthen the delivery of public services while encouraging greater adoption of digital tools across government institutions.
The initiative aligns with Burkina Faso’s national strategy to modernize public administration and expand the use of digital technologies as a driver of economic and social development. In recent months, the government has introduced several technology-driven reforms, including digital public finance management systems, broadband expansion projects, and new digital skills development programmes.
Minister of Digital Transition, Postal and Electronic Communications, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, has consistently emphasized the importance of digital sovereignty, connectivity, and citizen-focused services in the country’s transformation agenda. Speaking on broader digital initiatives earlier this year, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding digital access, strengthening public services, and building a more inclusive digital economy capable of supporting long-term national development.
The online ATI certification platform represents a practical example of that vision in action. By replacing manual processes with a digital-first approach, Burkina Faso is seeking to create a more efficient administrative environment while laying the foundation for a modern, technology-enabled public sector.
